There has been a Family History group within Barnsley u3a since around 2009. The approach at the beginning was very ad hoc, but over the years the approach has progressed to a more structured one, using the Worldwide option at Ancestry.co.uk and Find My Past. We also use the many supporting websites that are available to us to both add and confirm the detail we have recorded, so a working knowledge of computers is essential. Also required is your own personal equipment, which needs to be fully charged, as there are no charging points available.
Margaret is ably assisted by Stan Jackson, Anne Maclachlan, Sue Rowley, and Sue Hill.
Refreshments are provided for a small charge, but there are no mugs available, so you need to bring your own.
As the group runs for 3 hours, we are asking you to contribute £2 to the Blue Box. This will cover you for the full 3 hours, or any part thereof.
