Encaustic Art
Encaustic Art is a method of transferring wax to Photographic paper to make pictures, I tend to do Abstract not progressed to pictures yet.
I use wax crayons as it is cheaper than wax blocks
The wax is applied using a low wattage craft iron, the wax is applied to the sole plate of the iron & applied to the paper in various fashions eg smeared, lines drawn with the edge of the iron etc .after applying , the excess wax on the iron is cleaned with paper and the next colour you want applied to the iron and so on.
I have been doing this for 6/7 years very relaxing.
It’s a very safe technique IMO
Basically all you need is a craft iron, crayons, kitchen roll and photographic paper usually 6 x4, 7 x 5 or even A4 and imagination plus a mat for the table.
